Eaglette Zoé Lacour starts with Eagles Women

By User 2485153

16 year old England Handball National Academy player Zoé Lacour made her start with the senior women against NEM Hawks on Saturday 8 September.

With a very short squad available on the day, Women's Head Coach Paul Dempsey decided to give Zoé her chance first as left wing, her natural position in the juniors, and then as right wing.

Whilst she missed her first couple of attempts at goal, Zoé wasn't nervous and scored 2 goals, one after a windmill on her opponent and the second with a nine metre bouncing shot. She held her own in defence, intercepted some balls and created a couple of opportunities in attack.

Despite Eagles losing to NEM Hawks, it was a great opportunity for Zoé who didn't look out of place. For Melanie Chowns, Girls Head Coach and Paul Dempsey: "It is evidence that the West London Eagles investment in juniors is paying off and that the system is working. We're confident that more girls will also train with the women, improve their game and gradually transition to the seniors over the next couple of years."
